My DD, 8months, has been on antibiotics for a few days and suddenly (V suddenly) developed a rash yesterday. It started with lots of tiny red spots which have now in places joined into large patches / blotches. It started on her legs but is now pretty much everywhere, though not much on her face. The emergency DR said it was a reaction to the drug, but our own dr says it doesn't look like that, and doesn't look like a heat rash (it is not hot to the touch, and is not itchy). She says it doesn't look infectios but doesn't know what it is. Anyone come across anything similar?

My DS had a very sudden rash when he was 4 months old. It wasn't itchy but looked frightening! The GP said it was due to a virus.

I've tried to put a pic onto my profile for you to see/compare. As far as I can remember it went away within a couple of days with a helping hand from calpol.

reckon it's a post-viral rash. My DCs get them. Frightened the life out of my mother the first time she saw it.

Have you got any piriton?

If it's a post-viral rash, my understanding is that it's the final fling of the virus on its way out basically.

With us it goes down pretty quickly.
