DD suddenly rejecting Neocate

My 14 month old DD was diagnosed with delayed allergy to dairy and took blackcurrant Neocate fine for about a month. Suddenly, last week she decided she didn't want it any more.

My husband gave her Aptamil instead and she took it. But with me, she still doesn't trust that I am giving her the tastier stuff and kicks up a fuss when I try and feed her.

Moreover, I got her off the bottle, but because of the fuss with Neocate, she now won't even take the beaker! I've tried diluting Neocate and adding Nesquik to it, but she seems to have wisened up considerably.

And the worse thing is, my husband is being v unsupportive, saying he's rather she slept and drank milk than torture her with foul tasting Neocate. Does anyone have any suggestions? Her reaction to milk seems to be in the form of digestive problems, eczema and a persistent night time cough. She seems okay on Aptamil now, but the specialist says the symptoms will come back if we keep going.

Does anyone have thoughts/advice for me? Thanks a million.

Have you tried diluting the neocate with the aptamil?? Then reducing the aptamil iyswim over a peroid of days.

How long has she been on neocate for?

My DD (now 2.4) has been on neocate (unflavoured) since she was 8mths old and regularly goes through phases of not wanting it.

TBH I would be ringing your dietician to see what they suggest.

There is also neocate active which is fairly new and less offensive I think....

If you have already tried diluting the neocate with the aptamil and know she will react to the aptamil tbh I think you need to stop your DH giving to to her.

To stop any confusion for your DD

You may need to start cooking with the neocate (unflavoured probably better for this) to "hide" it iyswim.

Would she eat it in say mashed potato or on her cereal?

sorry me again

Keep thinking of other ideas Really should preview message before posting

The thing our dietician said to us was give the neocate when she is hungriest ie first thing in the morning. DD has a beaker of it in her cot while I am getting dressed myself and then whatever she does not finish gets poured on her cereal.

Or maybe straight after nap?

Another time DD seemed to like drinking it was in the buggy. School run ideal

She would be so busy looking round at what was going on that she would half heartedly drink it iyswim and it would be all gone before we got home and there was no stress for me with a battle of trying to force her to drink it.

Thanks a ton simpson. Some great ideas here! I'm going to try mixing the two tonight...
