DS now 5.

When he was 3 had ketchup for the first time which left his mouth angry red and burnt looking so stopped giving him it. When he started school he had it and didn't seem to react.

About 2 months ago he had pizza salad and ketchup at home and as eating his face became very angry red eyes looked slighty puffy and he became very thirsty so I gave him puriton.

Saw GP following day for advice and was referred to consultant. DS had RASH test for ketchup, tomato and peanuts and I'm awaiting results.

He has had the odd product with tomato in since, mince and pizza mainly but only a VERY little.

Tonight we had a chinese take away and had chicken chow main prawn crackers and sweet and sour sauce.

About 1 hour or so after finishing he was lying on the sofa when he announced his cheeks felt bumpy. They did and 5 minutes later he said he felt unwell. He had what looked like a small bumpy red area on his cheek his nose was very snuffly and his cheeks then went very red but it faded again slightly to leave the small area. I have given him 5ml puriton and he now just looks flushed.

We have not had results of rash test although as he seems alright with small amounts of tomato I'm dubios about the results.

Do any other mners have any ideas as to whether this seems like an allergic reaction or have a similar experience with reactions sometimes and not others?

Sorry if it is a rambling post just a bit flustered myself.

Sounds like a bit of a reaction, might just be the MSG though.

just looked it up and it says food containing MSG can exabberate an allergy if it exists so MSG + tomato (just found out its in s+s sauce) could equal worse reaction.

Think perhaps I'll make an appointment with GP for further advice.

Lots of people have reactions to MSG so I wouldn't worry too much. Hope all goes well at the GPs.
