allergy to shampoos

Since childhood I am very allergic to cosmetics. Now my dermatitis is killing me - I can use no shampoo to wash my hair. At first I thought that it's because of stress. But now everything is ok, and I still can use only "Nizoral". But it's too expensive and it's medicine, so I wonder maybe someone could give me a piece of good advice how to manage my scalp dermatitis in old fashioned way, with camomile's decoction or smth like this?

I shall watch this with interest as my scalp is a nightmare.

avoid anything with Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or any of the Lauryl Sulfates like the plague. Have you tried an organic shampoo ?

Can you get this later in life?

I've found that since my 2nd child has been born, after I've washed my hair, my scalp itches and burns. There's never any visible reaction but it's really uncomfortable.

I've had mild eczema in the past and a nasty reaction to a particular washing powder as a child but I've never had a problem with shampoo before.

I use an organic one now Mousemole... it's better than others but my scalp is still full of sores.

poor you shockers -sounds awful. Have you seen a herbalist or homeopath ? A herbalist sorted my weird rashes on my arms. It was a hidoues concoction I had to drink but worked wonders.

dd1 gets rashes from shampoos containing SLS. we have to use organic children lavender on her.

for adults, try MOP or Jason.

I love the Jason products - the shampoo is the best organic one I've found. Also love their deodorant

expatinscotland · 06/05/2010 18:35

Jason's easy to find, too, and makes one for extra sensitive scalps.

shockers · 06/05/2010 19:04

I am going to try the jason one . How about you OP?

I've found the Halo's N Horns ones to be really good. No SLS or parabens or any nasties and it doesn't smell like carbolic either!!
