Congratulations - age please?

Oh wonderful news!!! Fingers crossed for another success soon. Is there a longterm plan in place?

topiarygal · 18/04/2010 20:25

He's 7 - he'd never shown a reaction to Peanuts in blood tests but they'd never dared take him off his antihistamine for scratch tests in the past. So when the scratches confirmed no peanut allergy they recommended we try to challenge and whoopie! So excited. When doing the scratch tests, we also undertook bloods again, this time splitting the hazlenut blood test to check the IgE on the different hazlenut protein types (the nut and the plant) he's not allergic to the nut but shows a positive to the tree. Stranger and stranger ... so next challenge is to hazlenuts.
As he's idiopathic (goes into anaphylaxis without allergen trigger) these challenges are really about lifestyle than anything else which is great because it makes a huge difference. And importantly HE LOVES PEANUTS!! So please, and thanks for being there you all -it's great to finally share some happy news!

Wow, allergic to the tree not the nut? What amazing research but like you say, stranger and stranger.

Good for him, he must be elated to finally have a breakthrough. Fingers crossed his reactions are dampening down,,,, this time next year eh?
