Hello
For those of you who have children with a dairy or lactose allergy please could you tell me the story of how you got a diagnosis and the symptoms your child had.

My 18 month has had a fortnightly tummy/bum upset. We take him off milk because of the runny bum for about 5 days then a week later it all starts again.... He always has a runny nose/cold before the runny bum starts. And this time we have got pink gunky eyes.

This has been going on for nearly 4 months now. The HV and Dr today ( separate phone calls) have both said possible allergy to milk/lactose. He is being referred.

I just need some reassurance..

Thanks

Ok, I am bump-ing for you. My 12 month old has had reflux, perennial digestive problems and lately a costantly runny rose, eczema on her arms and a non stop cough. I am seeing a consultant too. Good luck!

DS2 (4) Dairy allergy - eczema. Prescription soya, vegan diet, then moved on to dairy gradually and he has more or less grown out of it (chocolate makes his eczema creep back though)

DS3 (2) Lactose intolerant - sleepless nights, avoidance of dairy etc, tummy pains. Prescription soya, tried goats milk, necer looked back.

BTW, NOT suggesting you do any of this, as you need proper advice before cutting out food types, obv. Just sharing what we did.

runny nose; a lot and colds

When he has anything with cows milk in he comes out in a very itchy rash around his mouth and neck.

Exzema

The consultant thought it likely he was dairy intolerant. Now dairy free and his skin is soo much better.

Forgot the runny nose and small patches of eczema with ds3. All pretty much gone now,

Thank you... in the last illness bout he developed really bad ezcema. And he looks like a drug user at times with little spots around his mouth...

DD has only had maybe 4 solid poos in her 16mths and has constant (mild) eczema. The only thing we haven't cut out is dairy so I was wondering about that. Might go and poke the doctors and see what they say.
