Peanuts during pregnancy?

I read on here somewhere that in the UK women are advised to stay away from peanuts during pregnancy/BF? Our drs don't mention that here, but I've got a preg friend right now with a history of peanut allergies in her DH's extended family-should she steer clear of these products?

The first time I was pregant the advice was not to eat peanuts.

This time though I think the advice has changed and we can eat them. Bloody hope so anyway.

Not sure about your friend though - sorry.

I think generally the advice is if you have a history of allergies in your family you should avoid them, otherwise it is fine. I had a real craving for Peanut Butter throughout pregnancy and still eat it now I am BF.

no eat them, lastest theory is that avoiding can cause the allergies.

so , enjoy!

The latest advice from an allergy consultant was not to avoid anything in pregnancy.

I had craving for peanut butter on toast for both pregnancies and ate it most days (before any advice)

DS 14 has treenut and seed allergies, was allergic to peanuts for a while but outgrew that. Also allergic to animals and hayfever

DD 12 has no allergies at all
