My babies possetted excessively since birth - breastfeeding, formula ,and now solids just come straight back up. There are no other symptoms - no crying or pain, but someone suggested a possible milk allergy.
The regurgitation is definitely markedly worse with dairy products (particularly yoghurt / cheese). I've got him on SMA soy formula now and it's stopped but his milk consumption has gone right down because of the foul taste. Should i just put him back on normal formula (which he loved) and try Gaviscon instead? Has anyone else had a very sicky baby like this and what did you do?

Hi, I'm a dietitian (not paediatric) but I'm sure I've read that soy formula is not generally recommended. I think you should approach your GP with your concerns and he/she can refer you on to a paediatric dietitian. They do have special formulas on prescription for cows milk protein intolerance, if that is the problem. In any event a dietitian can assess your babies intake to see if it is adequate for essential nutrients such as calcium and suggest changes to the diet which will help him to meet his requirements. Be sure to see a dietitian (who will be registered with the Health Professions Council) NOT a nutritionist, so you can be sure that they have adequate training and qualifications to give advice. Hope this helps.
