16 month face rash.. excema?

My dd has had a rash around her mouth and nose area for a couple of weeks now. Started as little pin pricks which would flare up then disappear literalyy within an hour or 2, initially put it down to teething/mild allergy. The last few days tho seems to have settled into a red rash mostly round her mouth and chin, looks like it could be exema, but it dosn't seem to itch/bother her have been applying e45, seems to make no difference either way... Can it be excema if it dosn't itch, and if it is, what's the next best step please? Have little faith in GP's to help this kind of thing to be honest!

Get some Aveeno cream. It's excellent and cheap (free!) if you get GP to prescribe it!

Yes, my first thoughts when my seven month gets a rash on his mouth is that he is teething. Everything I have read says that is what it is and that you are to keep drying the drool up.

Are you using any kinds of wipes or new baby soaps or shampoos on his face as they might contain chemicals that he has an allergy too.

I cleared out the baby toiletries we got as new baby gifts and my little one's rash has gone. Hope it clears up soon.

I was going to suggest teething too, my ds has a 15 month old teething rash at the mo on his cheeks

My DD used to get a rash from wool. Especially if she was dribbling and wearing a wool cardigan.
E45 wouldn't help if it was this as it contains lanolin (the same chemicals as in the wool).

I could have written op. Dd is 16 months & rash is exactly as you've described. We took her to A&E when it got pretty bad (& she had high temp) last month and they said it was teething. She has had 3 molars through in 2 weeks & these last few days it has been less noticable.

Hth.

hello

we have EXACTLY the same problem here too, DS2 is 11 months and has a rash arounds his mouth (also little red spots) he has had it for about 2 weeks.

Took to docs and he said excema - but it does not itch so I am not sure.

It gets worse when it gets wet - ie when he eats or drinks.

Has been a while since last added message but after many trial and errors with rash had some epaderm cream after trip to dermatologist and rash has vanished! Am over the moon, hope this may help someone else with similar.
