they really take the piss sometimes don't they?

is this for dd4? what did she react to, is it easily avoidable?

misdee · 08/08/2009 22:41

yes for dd4.

she reacts to milk (see profile for pic)

but is reacting to other things

bloods were done 6weeks ag to test for milk, soya, eggs, nuts, fish and shellfish.

so am phoning specialist monday.

ugh, milk is a bloody annoying one. poor mite

good luck chasing down those results and hopefully it's just the milk

tatt · 09/08/2009 08:34

when were the bloods taken as a 4 week wait after that isn't unusual.

I know it's tough but in parts of the country people are lucky to be seen in 3 months.

misdee · 09/08/2009 08:55

6 weeks ago tatt.

we got seen quickly as dd4 was 6months old and beginning weaning.

i just want to see the dietician, as am worried i am making myself ill, as have had no advice regarding my diet and breastfeeding.

i am shattered today as on friday i stupidly left one of those little milk pots in dd4's reach, she had a reaction, and spent yesterday scratching and screaming du to the aftereffects of friday.

after 6 weeks they should have the results so pester them.

We've never seen a dietician as I didn't see the point. Can't you get help here? Plenty of foods you can still eat - potatoes, rice, green leafy vegetables, avocado, quinoa, that omega 3 supplement that someone posted that is derived from algae. Probably easiest to have a calcium supplement but your body gets more efficient at absorbing it if you aren't having much.

misdee · 09/08/2009 09:19

thanks tatt.

i'm just stressed due to lack of sleep.

will call tomorrow. and tuesdya if no answers, and weds...

just so tired and fed up of it all.

Could you ask for a phone consultation? The dieticians at Children's Hospital where we are are happy enough to have a chat on the phone.

Also, could you call your GP for the test results? Not sure how it works where you are, but they are all linked up. Hospital/GPs into a central system, so results would be logged into the same database.

The waiting is ridiculous, but I think it comes down to how efficient the individual consultant is that your child is under. We saw one for ds1 who arranged an oral challenge for him back in June, we turned up and he had forgotten to actually organise anything, so it is now rearranged for later this month. We saw the same one with ds2 and he said ds2 fit the criteria for an epipen (for his dairy allergy) and he would write to our GP and ensure we got epipen training, the ds2's paediatrician confirmed this. We're still waiting some 5 weeks or so later....

With the dieticians, as Ilove sayes you may be able to speak with them by phone. I've done this a couple of times with mine. The actual help you get from them might not be all that good though as all mine did was tell me to avoid dairy. But, she has to approve any changes to ds2's formula which means that the GP can not just stop prescribing neocate without her say so.

thanks again.

we are meant to be having a phone consultation. but when is anyones guess. just feel a bit alone in all this, and am fed up as i said.

i think something has been spilt onthe rug as dd4 keeps coming up in nettle rash after being on it.

I just ring and ring until someone listens to me. When dd2 had all over hives for the first time I tok her to see our pharmacist (who is perhaps the most helpful man ever) and he said she needed to be seen by the doc asap. Called them and they said to call back at 2 'to see if they could fir her in'. Not good enough I thought. So i went to the surgery and said in a loud voice 'WELL THEY DON'T THINK IT's MEASLES BUT IT MAY BE' Strangely enough got seen 5 mins later.. God how they must love me.
