Can a lack of calcium affect a baby's growth?

Ds2 is on the lowest percentile for his height. He has multiple allergies, one of them is dairy.
I was wondering if lacking calcium could have affected his height?
Ds1 has always been on the 75th percentile.

Hi if your baby is on hypoallgernic formula then (apparently) it has all the nutrients they need so I'm guessing calcium in there? The reason for them being small is the lack of calories in the dairy products. My dd2 is 10 months and has dropped from 90th to 9th centile for weight and height since her allergies were diagnosed. She doesn't have any dairy, soya, egg, wheat etc etc so we're v limited in what she has. As she hadn't put any weight on for 6 weeks recently the dietitian told me to put an extra scoop of powder in her bottle and she is gaining a bit now. She rang today and said they are also prescribing a build up carbohydrate and protein powder to add to the food. Sorry haven't got it yet so don't know name. Do you see a dietitian?

I think lack of calcium can affect bone growth, but I don't know if this directly influences height. You can ask for a blood test to check calcium levels if you are concerned.

My ds1 has always been on the 75th centile for height (allergic to many things but not dairy), ds2 is only on the 9th centile for height (he has dairy allergy) but then dp is quite tall and I am very short so I guess ds2 takes after me more height/build-wise whilst ds1 takes after dp.

Ds2 is not on any formula - he is 22 months. He was bf for 13 months, then he was ok on goats milk for a few months so I didn't bother with formuls. He developed an allergy to the goats milk so for about the last 6 months he's been having Oatly but only at breakfast and a bit before bed. I try to give him other foods that contain calcium and he'll have brocolli or spinach in pretty much every meal.
I was just wondering if he's getting enough.

I have not seen a dietician. I have a rubbish gp, went private for tests and have had to get most of my info and help from here. Thank God for mumsnet! (seriously, I wouldn't have had a clue if it wasn't for the help and support I got here)

Yes IME GP's (at least every one at our surgery) are rubbish!! You end up knowing more than them.. You should try to get a dietitian referral the one we see is really helpful. And yes hurray for this website I feel a lot saner about the whole thing since coming on here!
