School Dinners

My son will start Primary School in September, I have a meeting with the school about my sons dairy and seafood allergies.

Can anyone tell me if the school is required to subsitute their menu or am I relying on their good will?
Does anyone have any experience of this?

Might be easier for your own peace of mind to give him a packed lunch? This is what we have agreed with ds1's school (he also starts in september and is allergic to eggs, nuts and kiwi). The other advantage is that you know he isn't being fed on turkey twisslers !

I went down the packed lunch route too. My main reason was that I didn't want her to stand out even more by eating a different version of the school meal.

I have never heard of dairy free school meals. Google your LEA and find out who makes the food and look on their website.

Thanks for your replies. I have googled LEA and it just says food sourced locally and made fresh on school premises.
I guess he/we have been spoilt at nursery, they make the same meals for him where they can using dairy free marge and rice milk etc, he is used to his plate looking different. He really enjoys his meals so it would be a real shame if he can't have S Dinners. I will wait and see what if anything they can do for him at the meeting.
