Hooray! We can move from Nutramigen to soya milk - but which one?

We saw DD's dietician in the week, and have been given the all clear to move her from Nutramigen to soya milk. I'm so happy! Its only a small thing, but new baby is imminent, and not having to make up DD's 'special' milk every night is one less chore.

Anyone got any thoughts on the best soya milk? Obviously one with calcium added, but I was looking at the Alpro range, and we can get UHT unsweetened (with calcium), or 'fresh' normal (which is sweetened, and with calcium). I was assuming that the best thing for DD (only 20 months) would be the unsweetened one, but does it matter that its UHT rather than fresh? I guess the Frenchies drink a lot of UHT milk, so it can't make that much difference to the nutritional content or whatever...

Any thoughts welcome

I would probably try to get her used to the unsweetened stuff as it'll be better for her teeth.

This little girl is going to have the healthiest diet and teeth in the world!

Thanks trixy

Well done, DS dietician has said that we have to do formula until he is 2. We use Alpro for his cereal.

My DD (7) takes Alpro or So Good, chilled and sweetened with apple juice. She won't touch the unsweetened stuff so I guess if you would prefer that, better to get her used to it early on! Maybe try tasting them and see which tastes similar to the Nutramigen?

OMG Ceolas, have you ever tasted Nutramigen?!! To be fair, DD does love it now, but even the smell makes me want to heave!

We'll do the same as when we moved her from EBM to Nutram., i.e. just gradually mix in more and more soya milk, so I'm assuming she'll end up happy with whatever we give her....

Well done. DD is only 8 months and we haven't even seen the dietician yet but agree re. smell of Nutramigen. It smells like Ovaltine - yuk!
