Just wondering if anyone else has this? I've been free of it for 7 years, but a recent miscarriage triggered it back off again. I've got pregnant in my first cycle after the miscarriage and was hoping it would clear up as it always has in my other pregnancies. I'm covered head to toe in a hives rash and my lips are swelling up, I look like I've had a botched lip plump some days lol! I cant take any anti histamines due to the pregnancy. Anyone else got any tips on how to deal with this, I've no idea what causes it! I've got a hospital appointment at the end of the month but I dont hold out much hope for them be able to do anything about it..blergh!

My mum suffers from this. She has had flare ups on and off for over 40 years (she's 67.) She tends to get a flare up which lasts several months - the worst lasted about 18 months, then it goes away for 10+ years before returning for no obvious reason. She's also very allergic to aspirin - last time she took some accidently she had a very scary anaphalactic-type reaction.

She's going through a flare-up at the moment which she's had since around Christmas. She saw a specialist who recommended a few things to try, including some medication which I think is intended for stomach ulcers. This did work for a few weeks but the rash seems to be fighting back.

She's going to go back to the doctors to discuss it again and see what else she can try. In the meantime she just copes with piriton and eurax cream.

Sorry not much help I know, except to say that in my mum's case it does (eventually) go away and stay away for quite some time. This latest flare-up is her first for nearly 15 years.
