Hi my 6 month old baby has started being sick over the past few week after nearly every feed. I brought him to hospital on saturday and they said there was no infection in ears, throat etc and tested his urine so no infection there either. Can my ds be tested at my gps for certain food intolerance? My ds doesnt really like bottles hence i spoon fed him around 4 months and mixed the formula milk into his food so he would get the benefits and vitamins of the formula milk as i thought he was way too young to stop taking it. He will take the odd bottle during the day but only about 4 oz. please help....

Hi there
Is it possible that he might be a bit dehydrated - in the nicest possible way, I find it very strange that he "doesn't like bottles" - they still need to have at least 500ml of formula a day plus other fluids. I think at 6 months they are too young to not like things. Will he drink from a cup?
He may just have a little bug - mine had one a few weeks ago that lasted for about 2 weeks and I was panicking, but all sorted now. If he is being sick so much he really needs to get as much fluid into him as possible, even if you skip the food for a bit to give his tummy time to recover.

Also they won't test at GP for food intolerance - they might advise you to keep a food diary of what he is eating and try to eliminate a food for a certain time ie two weeks to see if there is any difference. The most common culprits are milk and wheat.

hi pc when he was just newborn the hv thought he had reflux as he struggled to take more than 3 oz every feed (3-4 hourly) but he was gaining weight and was healthy. He still will only about 4 oz every feed as he gets fidgity and just doesnt want anymore. He has about 4 of these 4 oz bottles every day plus i mix the formula into his spoon feeds. when i spoon feed him he always take baby juice also.
I made an appointment with gp so hopefully he will reassure me a bit.

Maybe he is intolerant to cow's milk? If he struggles with the formula?
