Could this be hayfever already?

DD age 6 has a sore throat, puffy red eyes & other hayfever symptoms.
We thought it might be a cold but has been going on too long for that now.
Just wondering if anyone else has been having symptoms yet and what kind it might be. She is worse some years than others and piriton makes her so sleepy I would really like to avoid for as long as possible.
Any advice, gratefully received!

Yes if it's tree pollen not grass pollen that you're allergic to. I have this and mine started a few days ago.

Same here. DD has started last week with symptoms. We use a non-sleepy one a day tablet but she is 13. Our GP says she needs to take them every day to build up rather than when she has symptoms. Also trying spoonful of the most local honey we can find as it worked well for a friend's boy last year.

I just can't stand the idea of DD being so grumpy and tired again this year because of piriton!
Tried haymax last year which worked for a while but I don't think her hayfever was as bad as normal last year - don't know why!
