Ds used to be sick with cow's milk and get excema if he ate food containing dairy. He was ok with goats milk.

We thought he'd grown out of it and slowly started re-introducing dairy. He seemed fine for a good 2-3 months

He has recently had a flare up of excema and doesn't even seem to be tolerating goats milk anymore either.

Has anyone any experience of this? He's also teething. Could the flare up be linked to that? [hopeful]

It is SO hard to pinpoint the cause of an eczema flare isnt it! Teething does cause a flare in ds, as does coming down with something, getting too hot / cold, cats, or even the moon being covered by a cloud

I am no expert, but from my experience, I would think if he is intolerant then the symptoms would appear sooner than 2 - 3 months after reintroduction of the food.
How else is your ds not tolerating goats milk? I have been told that the proteins in cows and goats milk are very similar, and so if you are allergic to one you are likely to be allergic to the other.

With ds, he can tolerate dairy, but not milk. This did my head in, but after MANY tries (wondering if it is coincidence), I concluded he definitely flared the day after drinking milk. Every time.

Assuming he is not having a major reaction or vomiting immediately after drinking it, I would suggest cutting it out until his eczema is clear, then trying a small amount of goats milk and watching for a reaction.

hi i have a three year old who has been on a dairy free diet for the last year and has recently startded to have blood in his stools and his specialist says it is because he is getting milk by mistake, i was just wondering if anyone else has had the same symptoms.

Sorry to hear about your ds btm1. I don't know anything about that. It might help if you started another thread about it.

Thanks raggedtrouser. I've cut out all dairy for now. He had been having goats milk with no probs for ages - about 10 months then he started trying to scratch his lips and crying when he had it.

I may try him with some tomorrow.
