Quick question re capers

DD got a swollen lip after lunch today - no other symptoms. The only thing she had which was new was capers in a salad. Does anyone know which family they are from - would they be linked to any other allergies? I just can't think of anything else it might have been.

apparently related to cabbage?
were they salted ones? Could it have been that?

Yes, they were salted but it was quite a big lump so looked like a reaction. We don't have any problems with cabbage. I'm a bit mystified but she's fine now thankfully.

Capers are the bud of a flower; they produce mustard oil naturally (the white spots on the bud).
See here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caper
Another option is to check the oil they were in (if they were in oil)?
