How can you kill mould spores?

My friend has an asthmatic son and we think the damp in his room is triggering his asthma. Is there anything she can do until she can get the window replaceed, as it might take a long time to do.

She needs to remove all existing mold with a solution of bleach and water. Humidity in the area should be kept below 50% so ventilation needs to be good.

If it is a wooden window frame, then it can be painted with a fungal suppression product which will help but isn't a permanent answer.

You can buy mould and mildew remover in a spray bottle which works, but it's basically chlorine bleach so making up a weak solution of that and cleaning the mould off with a cloth would probably work as well. If the room is papered, not painted, it would make sense to strip it and paint to make it easier to keep clean. HTH

You could also consider a dehumidifier - it extracts water from the air, and dumps it into a bottle which you empty once per day or so.

You could also try and reduce humidity in the rest of the associated spaces - open Windows for showers, when boiling water for cooking etc. and generally vent the house when it's not raining...

We have just bought a de humidifier because of damp as i have asthma. You would not believe how much water comes out of the air overnight. When we empty it in the morning there can up to 6 litres of water in it! It was expensive but definetly worth the money.
