possible allergy in 16 month old, please help.

Im going to the doctors again for what seems the hundreth time and to be honest I feel like a paranoid mother now.

I think he has a wheat or dairy allergy and need to convince doctor to send ds for tests.

So does any one recognise these symptoms.
Constantly sick as baby up to 8months- diagnosed reflux from one visit to hospital, given gaviscon.

He has never had a solid poo, always runnyish, had frequent diahrea (sp) poo never looks like food has been digested properly. still sick sometimes and has had a number of rashes. hes constantly hungry and will eat and eat, screams when food is taken away. He has had these horrific eggy burps and is a very burpy toddler still.

Do any of these symptoms sound like an allergy, or am i being completely paranoid

No sounds very similar to my friends little boy who ended up being diagnosed with a dairy intolerance and as soon as she cut out the dairy food and switched the formula he was like a different baby. Trust your instincts XxX

allergy - no, intolerance yes. What milk does he have? If its breast milk try adding probiotics to your diet, if its forula ask if you can try Pepti Junior, neocate or nutramigen.

Sounds very like the lactose intolerance symptoms my LO has. Was advised not to give soya milk but got him prescribed with SMA LF (Lactose Free).

He now has all foods with dairy products in except for milk (still on LF formula) and cheese, which gives him an upset stomach.

Sounds more like an intolerance than an allergy. Push to get what you want- you know your ds and whats normal.

been to the doctors today, Ds is going to get referred to hospital. Last night again, ds woke up with poo all over him. Urhh. His nappy rash is so bad that its now bleeding. Hes so miserable and im really miserable. I just want to know whats wrong so I can deal with it. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Can I ask, how much dairy does he have in his diet?

you will do better at the hospital if you have tried a few things yourself first. Try adding some lactase to his diet or getting lactose free milk from the supermarket and see how he gets on with that. Lactase is available in larger health food stores and would be a good choice as it also deals with cheese/yoghurt/ skimmed milk in food.

Try for 2 weeks, if no improvement try reinstating normal milk and excluding all gluten containing foods. Good luck.
