ds is nearly 12 months and has not had wheat yet due to bad allergies in dh. he has been ok with oats so far; not sure whether to try a breakfast cereal with wheat first, pasta or bread. has anyone introduced wheat late and if so which things did you try first??

Yes we did this and introduced toast first at 12 months. Make sure the bread is white and has no other additives (like antioxidant in the vegatable oil) though or it's not a fair test. Pita bread is good because it's only wheat, yeast and water.

As there are good alternative breakfast cereals we didn't bother for a while with weetbix etc.

Tesco are now doing gluten free pitta bread in their "Free From" range!!!!

thanks for replies; can the antioxidants cause problems in allegy prone babies? do you know which brands don't contain this?

Yes I am toddlerbob - just felt like a change. If you read the label and there is a E number then it's probably antioxidant. I would stear clear of any e numbers as you want a fair test of whether the wheat is okay.

I also baked my own cakes and biscuits.
