How to introduce cows milk formula after 3 weeks on SMA Althera

My 5 month old was put on SMA Althera formula with a suspected CMPA/I due to eczema, severe reflux upto 3/4 hours after a feed and scratching himself bald ☹️
he has only been on the formula for 3 weeks and I have had 2 reviews in that time however his reflux seems worse as he now cries in pain as the milk comes back up where he never did this on normal formula. His breath also smells like burning which I’m guessing is his reflux?

I have since given him a normal formula feed but I’m worried I may overwhelm his already struggling body if I do it too quickly. Has anyone had a similar experience?
Any advice on how to do this would be greatly appreciated!

If he has suspected cmpa why would you switch him to cows milk not... i dont know ....alfamino or similar????

You maybe need omrazeprole (or Lansoprazole or similar) for the reflux..
Although I didnt like the potential LT effects so we just let ds vom everywhere.

You switch by blending.
6 scoops A
5 scoops A 1 scoop B
4 scoops A 2 scoops B etc
Up to 6 scoops B

If you can afford private and are in the SE / london I strongly recommend Neil Shah (he also does NHS work)

My GP agreed that we should reintroduce normal formula if his reflux isn’t improving, which it isn’t it’s getting worse so we wouldn’t have been trying Alfamino or similar.

Thanks for the advice on amount of scoops etc, that’s helpful.

Next time try not to judge a fellow parent asking for advice when you don’t know the whole story. The tone of your response isn’t kind.
