I am sick of hearing that people would put creams on another persons child.

ok, i am super-senstive to this issue as dd1 reacts to a long list of creams.

i recently did a face painting course and the subject of chidlren with eczema coming up to be painted came up. the lady leading the coursse said she would put a bit of aquous cream onbefore painting. i had to say no way, as aquous cream is one of the main irritants for dd1, as well as e45 and other popular OTC moisterisers.

nobody should ever put any cream o na child without the parents permission.

i have a hard enought time trying to work out what the dd's have reacted to when they do react, without someone else throwing something unknown into the mix.

I work in a school and if we're going to be outside in the sun the parents have to send their own cream in, in case of allergies. It's a SN school and some children are severely (to the point of hospitlisation)allerg to a number of things.

But if a child were sensitive, would they be allowed (by their parents) to have face paint put on?

It is tricky. I took dd and her friend to the park after school today before their ballet lesson. It was 27 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. I spent 5 mins sitting in the car with them whilst I phoned around to get hold of her mum to check if it was ok to put my suntan cream on her dd before we went in. I would never put anything on a child if I'm not sure.

actually, i use snazaroo paints and dd1 is fine with them. but she just likes small swirls and flowers not the whole face covering, or a small arm decoration.

but sher cant tolerate many creams.

i dont paint a child without their parents permission anyway, and if the parents are unsure would do a small dab test on a small patch of unbroken skin and send them away and see if they had any redness on return (onbiously do not use red face paint for this)

COV, that i wouldnt mind.

but i make sure dd1 goes out in suitable clothes and a hat.

same goes for food and drink as well. dd1 cant tolerate colourings (causes a delayed reaction when she then appears to react to safe foods, or a pretty instant eczema type reaction which takes days to clear up).

I just know that one of dd's school friends has very sensitive skine and her mum buys particular products and nothing else. Obviously with playdates food/drink issues are mentioned, but nothing about creams etc. I asked the child but she sort of uhmed and ahhed which made me a little nervous.
