Have you had a bad reaction to antihistamine? I'm wondering if I had today?

I visited a friend today. She has cats and I'm moderately allergic so took an antihistamine. I rarely take them as we usually see each other elsewhere.

We had a walk out and lunch. About an hour after taking the antihistamine my legs felt like lead and I thought I was going to keel over. Heart pounding. We slowly walked back to hers and I had some water. Sat a while and it passed.

I'm wondering if it is the antihistamine? I wasn't dehydrated and had eaten.

Has anyone heard of this?

I had a reaction to one I’ve taken probably hundreds of times but it was from a different supplier. My heart rate went up to 135bpm and I felt awful. I took a Rennies because it stops the antihistamine absorbing and my heart rate went back to normal.

No idea what on earth to take next hayfever season though, bit scared to take it again.

Some histamines work for my hay-fever others don't so maybe try a different type next time? Also look up yellow card online to see if anyone has reported any similar reactions?

I had a reaction to an antihistamine. My neck and throat swelled up. It was odd because I had taken that same antihistamine for years before but had given up for several years.

I have reactions to loads of things, and I saw and allergist and he took blood tests and said there was no sign that I was "an allergic person". He says I don't have allergies. I have to wear a hepa filter in my nose when I breathe outside air or my throat and noise and sinuses swell up. I have no idea what it all means.

I think it is a post covid thing.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm wondering about covid too. I always feel as if I'm starting with something? Especially nasally.

I'm extra tired tonight so maybe I'm coming down with something and the antihistamine was a coincidence? I'll soon know tomorrow.
