How do you tackle your childs intolerances?

My toddler is intolerant to almost all foods and is on a very restricted diet. It took me a whole year to get an appointment with the pediatrician and I'm still waiting as I see them in November. I was just wondering anyone else's experiences and how they tackle it. My LO gets stomach issues like vomiting, stomach aches and loose stools. I wish there was some sort of supplement or treatment that could make it go away. I've just been told to avoid the foods she can't tolerate.

It's a hideous situation isn't it? My now adult son has severe food intolerances which were present from very young. His resulted in extreme weight loss, and severe constipation and gut pain.

He was prescribed an elemental formula (neocate, elecare and alfamino). He didn't tolerate the neocate but did well on the alfamino until it went off the market here in Australia, now elecare has gone as well so I am deeply pissed off.

The theory is that the elemental formula calms down the inflammation and that leads to the intolerances settling. After 20 years on elemental formula, we've been able to add some foods back in but he's far from tolerating a normal diet.

Elemental formula is brutally expensive so doctors can be reluctant to prescribe it. It's also completely revolting and most people end up with a feeding tube--my guy was given the choice between another stoma or drinking it and he chose to drink it. He had an ACE stoma for his intractable constipation.

A good dietician specialising in fodmap and/or intolerance can be amazing.

Our story is the worst possible outcome so don't panic.
