Not sure if I’m going mad

I’m pretty sure my 16 week old is intolerant to dairy…

He was so grumpy for the first 3 months and often gassy / uncomfortable. So I reduced my dairy intake and he’s sooo much happier. I did question if it was a total coincidence but I’ve accidentally had larger amounts of dairy twice in the last week (once was a mr whippy and today I had dauphinois potatoes) and both times within about 2 hours of me eating and him having his next feed, he’s been gassy, writhing around, crying, won’t settle etc. it just seems too much of a coincidence at this point.

but the thing that confuses me is that he’s always had a bottle of formula at night. Often my husband says he doesn’t settle properly afterwards (which supports my theory), but sometimes he takes it and settles fine. Which is what’s really confusing me?

he also has gained weight exceptionally well (he was small and premature and he’s jumped several centiles).

is it possible he does have cmpa or something even if he sometimes seems unaffected by a formula bottle?

If he’s unaffected by the formula it could be a few things. It could be Tongue Tie which can cause similar symptoms. He could have a different allergy to something you ate or the formula is hydrolysed well and he is digesting it better than the dairy in your food.
