Where to buy additional epipens

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help. My daughter has a nut allergy and needs epipens. She starts school in September and they have asked for 2 in school and an additional 2 for afterschool club. Seems excessive!
Any experience of doctors allowing a prescription of 6 epipens? (We need 2 to have at home too.)

If not, does anyone know where we can purchase an additional 2 and not too expensive?

Thank you!

Try your GP first. SD, in her 20’s gets prescribed 4 at a time, you have a good case for more.

Simpleonlinepharmacy.co.uk do 2 from ££88.95.
Boots do them too but 2 pens are £140.

I know our surgery wouldn’t prescribe that many. You would be expected to take your home ones with her to school/after school club and home again.

My DS has 2 epipens that travel with him. They're in a little bumbag and he carries them from home, to school, to afterschool club and home again.
The NHS won't prescribe more than 2 at a time, and I can't afford to spend the extra money to buy additional ones! Especially as they need replacing so frequently.

They go to school/club with her and then home again at the end of the day. DS does the same with his blue inhaler (though he is at secondary) so he has it on the journey to/from school too.

The school can also get their own back up EpiPens. Every school is allowed to purchase two EpiPens and two salbutamol inhalers to be kept in school. These are a back up in case a child has a problem with their own. If they don’t have some already, they need to take a letter from the head on school letter-headed paper to a pharmacy.

What happens if the child forgets to bring the epipens or inhaler home from school though? I mean, easy enough to have an extra inhaler at home, but it’s more complicated for epipens.

My own experience is that doctors differ in their willingness to prescribe more than 2 pens.
