Hi

For the last six months I’ve had three ‘flare ups’ which have happened after I’ve eaten out. One was an afternoon tea, another just a sandwich and most recently battered cod and chips. Lots of gluten.

I regularly eat bread for lunch and toast for breakfast though. Pasta at dinner sometimes etc. This doesn’t happen every time I eat gluten.

These flare ups include - problem digesting the food leading to bloating and being uncomfortable. Then when it comes to bedtime I’m sick a few times until my stomach is empty. After it will include cramping, hot flashes, bloating and then diarrhoea. I’m thinking it’s something I’m eating but it doesn’t happen every time so maybe not gluten?

Anyone experienced something similar?

I should add i’m currently on my period and it’s been very heavy this time round (sorry tmi). I’ve also got anaemia (on iron tablets for this).

My DH ate the same as me so not good poisoning.

I’m waiting to get an appointment with the doctor but that’ll take a while and wondering if there’s something I can do to avoid this happening again.

Thanks for reading this far.

I had irregular digestive symptoms like this and it was indeed coeliac. I also had a whole load of other symptoms though, and the digestive ones were the most livable with compared to the fatigue and brain fog!

The main thing to remember about anything digestive - as a gastro once told me - is your digestive system ‘fires up’ every time you eat. So whatever reaction you’re getting is not necessarily from the meal you just ate, it could be from an earlier meal.

Good luck resolving things!
