Anaphylaxis

Has anyone experienced similar?

I am 37 and no previously known allergies to anything. Have eaten nuts my whole life no problems.
2 weeks ago I ate a peanut protein bar and quite quickly after experienced an anaphylactic reaction.
it started with a slight cough, then my lips turned white and stingy. One side of my throat started to swell and my arm became itchy. I thought I was going to die.. but luckily only one side of my throat started to swell so breathing was fine. It just hit a Level and then stopped.
i am awaiting a blood test and allergy testing and in the meantime have been given EpiPens.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? It seems strange to suddenly have a reaction like that? Also the obvious thing to think is that it was the peanuts, I suppose it could have been something else..but why after 37 years?
TIA

You can only develop an allergy to something you've previously encountered, so it will always be something you've eaten safely before, once or many times. Lots of us develop serious allergies in adulthood.

Hopefully the testing will be helpful and you'll know what you're dealing with.
