Peanuts

After taking a weaning course and doing a lot of research, we let our 5.75mo baby try peanut butter I let his tongue touch a spoon with peanut butter I used to make breast milk popsicle (no reaction) then gave him the breast milk and peanut butter popsicle a few hours later. Immediately he got hiccups (he had them earlier in the day too before any peanut at all). But after googling, I’m worried hiccups could be the start of a developing allergy. I’m nervous to let him try again as it’s my understanding that allergic reactions get worse with each exposure. What should we do the next time and how long should we wait to try again? Peanut butter has been an absolute stable in my pregnancy and postpartum life, so I would be surprised if he’s allergic, but I’m also a hypochondriac.

Well he hasn't had an allergic reaction so I'd let him have another lick. Although I'd wait until at least six months plus all signs of readiness before starting weaning.

It’s hiccups, not an allergy.

Hiccups are not a sign of allergy.

I have a child with a peanut allergy. Hiccups are not a sign of an allergic reaction.

Thanks everyone. Google was saying otherwise so was stressing but now I’m thinking it was more likely the coldness of the popsicle. We did a weaning course and the wee man is showing all the signs of being ready. He’s 6mo in a week so it’s not overly early to have a few little licks
