Hayfever Jab

Has anyone had the Kenalog hayfever jab and can tell me if it works please? Were there any side effects? I’m already struggling with itchy eyes and throat and I’m dosed up on antihistamines, nasal sprays and eyedrops but with little relief.

Kenalog is a prescription only drug and not licensed for use in hayfever any longer due to the risk of serious side effects.
Any salons/beauty places offering it are not offering “genuine” Kenalog.

I had the Kenalog injection two summers in a row a very long time ago (1976 and 77 I think). I could barely function due to my allergies, and it really did work.

As far as I know it was withdrawn due to the side effects mentioned by a poster above. Having said that, 50 years later I personally have had no noticeable long term side effects.

But I would not take it nowadays as there are other effective treatments (there weren't back in the 70s).

I now take Avamys (prescribed by GP) and also Clarityn when necessary.

Thanks for your replies. I think I’ll go to my GP and see about some alternative antihistamines instead!
