Cows milk allergy

I’m urgently in need of some advice on what I should do next and if what my baby is experiencing is normal after starting a EHF formula or not. My baby started on SMA althera (EHF formula) for suspected CMPA. By the end of the first week the rash on his face had disappeared and he had increased the amount of milk he was drinking at each feed. I don’t know if this is a clear indication that he does indeed have an allergy to cows milk protein but now we are on the second week of trialing this formula on him and his face rash has came right back . It will be 2 weeks on Saturday. Now I am confused as to what I should do?? Should I continue on this EHF milk for another 2 weeks to complete the recommended 2-4 weeks trial period? Or should I contact my GP and let them know that the rash has came back again? Also can someone please tell me if it’s normal for a rash to completely clear up on the EHF formula and to then also come right back? Will it clear up again or do I need to push for an amino acid formula?? And I’m not sure if this is important or not but the rash on his neck only faded but didn’t disappear with the EHF formula, only the rash on his face disappeared for a few days.

It's quite common to see an initial improvement and then to go backwards as you get a build up reaction to the proteins.
I'd probably go back and ask about an amino acid formula to be honest

This happened to my baby. She started on nutramigen which I believe still has milk protein in but are hydrolysed so those with a mild intolerance can cope with this. Her skin cleared up pretty quickly but then within a week she flared up again to the point her eyes were swollen. She then got put on SMA Alfamino which has absolutely no milk proteins in and she has thrived on this. She’s 7 months now and I’m not planning on trialing her with any dairy until she is 1. I would definitely go back to the gp and ask for the amino acid based one.
