My baby is 14 weeks old and has been on Neocate for 1 week. She seems worse than ever screaming after feeds and seems uncomfortable all day. I know it can take a while but was just wondering if anyone else experienced things getting worse at first and then was there any improvement? Thank you

These formulas can be really thin so this can cause extra issues for silent/reflux issues. We never had neocate but did try Pepti 1 (which she still reacted to), Puramino and Alfamino (the second two were both Amino Acid formulas but one suddenly went out of stock so we were moved to the other).

My advise in these situations is always go to back and see the GP. Has there been any other symptoms? Any nappy issues or skin issues etc?

For us, we knew things were improving because the mucous in her nappy was vastly reducing. Hope things improve. It's a bloody whirlwind at the best of times!

@HavingAMinute thank you for responding. She was put on a 2 week trial by a paediatrician. She had a rash, constipation and trapped wind when on Hipp so GP prescribed nutrimigin and the rash instantly went. She was on it a week and had an app with HV during this time and she had dropped centiles so they got hold of my gp to get her to go back on her previous formula as they put it down to her not taking as much on this formula. I knew she was just going to get constipated again so wasn’t happy to go back to Hipp so agreed with the gp to try C&G comfort. The rash never came back so I don’t know if this was ever to do with the formula. Her nappy’s were okay some days they were like water though. She was on this for 6 weeks and constantly had awful trapped wind and crying all day. Screaming after feeds and she started refusing feeds. She was only ever happy laying on a changing mat/playmat. And now she’s been on Neocate just over a week. She’s not refusing the feeds but she is still screaming in pain and she seems to be really struggling with wind no matter how much we wind her.
