What is this?!

Looking for some advice here because I don't know how much longer I can do this....

My baby is 8.5 weeks old and has the most horrendous crying fits, it seems like it's digestion related because she will lift up her legs and I can literally hear the grumbling in her lower abdomen

We have tried everything, gripe water, infacol, pace feeding, regular burping and tummy massage bicycle legs... I've now ended up on colief since Saturday and I'm not seeing any improvement

My mum said my sister had a cows milk protein intolerance and when I was born she only used wysoy with me out of fear I had it too, so it's possible I had the same. Could that be it?

She doesn't have a rash and doesn't vomit excessively although we have had a couple of projectiles... she had a bought of reflux so we use gaviscon when that flairs up

What's happening here and how do I resolve this for a baby that is constantly upset we get about 20 minutes collective happy time a day and I just cannot anymore

to add i am exclusively breastfeeding

It absolutely could be CMPA (my baby had it but nappies were the giveaway as well) but it's hard to say as of course 8 weeks is still very young and they could be crying for lots of reasons! What helped my baby was me cutting out dairy from my diet, and keeping her v close to me all the time in the sling etc, lots of breastfeeding whenever she wanted it or just suckling for comfort to help soothe any pain or discomfort.
Limited evidence that any of the stuff you can buy makes any difference and might even make it worse, when over time they will likely grow of it anyway.
It's very hard when they're miserable!

Sounds like my baby. I gave up dairy and soy when he was 8 weeks and it helped hugely. Completely resolved his reflux and his crying got a lot better, and disappeared by week 12.

Even the tiniest amount of dairy or soy made my baby sick so you need to be very careful, no butter when cooking, no pastries or biscuits etc. Soy affects most babies with dairy allergy too and it sucked as all restaurants and especially anything veggie or vegan uses soy to replace dairy so it means no takeaways/eating out. My baby thrived though and he was such a happy baby. Slept better too.

Tried reintroducing dairy at 4 months but it made him sick again. Trying again now at 6 months and it's looking good, so there is an end in sight to the strict diet.
