Allergy testing, Teen - within 1hr of Cambridge

Hi all

I'm hoping to hear positive experiences of independent allergy testing (including blood tests if poss) for teenagers.

We've gone through a leading independent healthcare provider locally & have had to proofread and amend an allergy report 3 times. Errors included spelling mistakes, wrong sex, wrong age & discrepancies within the document as to what the patient was allergic to. The consultant also holds a senior position at the local NHS hospital. As you can imagine catalogue of errors has left us less than confident of the findings.

Whilst at this stage we don't need any more testing (we're fairly confident of what we're dealing with) we very well may do, due to DC's chosen career path.

So my question is, where to go next?

We'd be happy to travel to London if necessary and would very much welcome some recommendations based on people's experiences.

Many thanks

Dr Adam Fox at Allergy London.

He's a leading NHS expert. We went there during the pandemic when waiting lists for nhs testing were huge and we knew we needed epi pens

There's an allergy clinic at the QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City. I went there when I was a teenager.

Hi @TangoCharlieWhiskey just happened upon your thread. Did you get anywhere with going anywhere else for testing?

One of my children has a possible allergy - but he's only had a reaction once. NHS allergy clinic wouldn't see him. So I was meaning to go private at some point (the allergy isn't a thing that comes up often, but it would be nice to know either way). We are local to you, and I sort of assumed that the obvious local private place wouldn't make mistakes like that! For a one-off thing like this, it's not much effort to go down to London.

Hi @randonneuse

No I've not progressed. I am awaiting feedback from the local private hospital where we had the issues mentioned above. They've gone silent for approx a fortnight so I'm going to contact them again today/Monday...

They had said they would pay for the next stage (blood tests) because of the debacle of the skin prick tests in December.

I certainly don't think there is anyone practicing in Cambridge privately that I would wish to approach, at least not without a recommendation. There was a Dr Wagner at Addenbrookes years ago who seemed to know her stuff, but she doesn't appear to be practicing anywhere else, not that I've found anyway.

London seems the most likely option. There is the gentleman @LostittoBostik mentions above, but I've not looked into him yet.
