6 months - first time with egg

Hello,

my baby boy just tried egg for the first time today. He was sick (which seemed to only be the food he’d had alongside the egg) and his chin/cheeks came up blotchy. I took him down to my gp who said to try again in a few weeks and have antihistamine with me when I do.

Has anyone experienced this? I know it wasn’t a bad reaction but wondering what the likelihood is of him being okay next time..

Thanks in advance :)

Is he teething now?
Did you breast feed, if so did you eat egg while doing it?

You could follow the egg ladder and see how far up he gets. First step is baked egg, many children allergic to egg can tolerate baked egg, so egg in cakes etc stuff that's been baked as I think the protein breaks down. Then move up to stuff with egg wash on, sausage roll, meat balls etc then you move up to more egg, egg in sauce then the top is just egg. Dd2 has allergies were on stage 2 with her. Yours
Doesn't sound a bad reaction but from experience it probably will just happen again. Most kids grow out of egg allergy though, dd2 defo is. Maybe take some time to read up on allergies, what tje most common ones are etc and see if he reacts to anything else. A food diary can also be useful when weaning if you suspect allergies see if anything else crops up.

Thank you yes I’m going to try it in something baked next, they said wait 10 days / two weeks. There good steps to follow thank you.

Fingers crossed I can reintroduce it. It wasn’t a massive reaction like you said!

I’ve got a check list of everything he’s tried / needs to try like peanuts etc. so I’ll persevere with that and hope it’s just the egg 🤦🏼‍♀️

I don't eat egg at all ever in any way shape or form (vegan) and I breastfed. Neither of mine are allergic to egg.
