what is this rash?

For a long time now my 3 and a half year old has been getting a rash on his legs, arms and tummy every morning. its like lots of individual horseshoe shaped spots, he says they are itchy but he doesn't really itch them, they've usually gone by the evening.

Last summer i thought it could be the washing liquid but i have tried everything and it doesn't seem to have made a difference.

Also,his poo is still quite runny whereas my other son who is almost 2 has quite solid poos now.

He has a beaker of milk at bedtime so it could be linked to that.

I took him to the doctor this morning and she was flummoxed too, she said its not viral or fungal anyway and she took a photo of it and said she'd try looking it up.
Then i told her about the milk and his poo problem and she said it could be to do with wheat and has referred him to the hospital.

Anyone else come across horseshoe shaped spots?

if he's still got it when he comes back from nursery later i'll get a pic and photobucket it.

does he wake up with the rash, or does it appear after breakfast/bath etc???

if he wakes up with it, it maybe something in his bedding?? dustmites/feathers from the duvet etc. I am allergic to dustmites, and also I thought to feathers, and used to wake with very itchy spotty legs.....t'was the dustmite allergy causing it, and of course they like feather duvets/pillows to live in!!!

yeah i forgot to say he does wake up with it but he has recently had a new mattress and i wash his bedding twice a week and the actual duvet and pillows once a week. - they are not the feathery ones - just the lightweight normal ones because feathers send me sneezing lol

may not be, but it may be that. especially if it has been scotchguarded or something! I'm no medic, but I always react to new things simply because I have very sensitive skin, so it may be that.

altho, wheat allergy (ceoliac) can cause funny spots too.

he had a new mattress because i though dust mites too - hence why i wash so often, he has had these rashes for a while - along with the poo problem, not being a pro in allergies or anything but i'm vering more toward a food intolerance than an actual physical reaction to anything in the home.

Our appointment is on the 13th May (i got offered one of those choose and book appointments so got the earliest available even though its not our local hospital)
