I think my 8 month old boy has reacted to haddock even though his allergy tests came up negative to all the fish in the screen (cod, salmon, tuna, shrimp, mussel). It was in a puree with potato which he's had before, and spinach, which is new, but I guess unlikely to cause a reaction?
He had hives around mouth and neck which went down quickly after piriton given.
He's allergic to dairy, eggs and some nuts as well but I've never given him these foods and this is the first actual reaction I've seen. He has been fine with tuna and mackerel.
I'm worried now as obviously I'll avoid haddock but I read that fish is one of the allergies that can cause anaphylaxis and that the second exposure can be worse. It's so annoying as without dairy in his diet it was good to be able to give him fish....
I also read that it could be histamines in the fish if it hasn't been stored properly, rather than an actual allergy.
Just wondered if anyone has any similar experiences or advice for us.
