Toddler diarrhea

Hi, I’m hoping someone can help. My child has had ongoing diarrhea for months. He has had a few courses of antibiotics for other issues, such as ear infections and chest infections. Whilst on the antibiotics the diarrhea stops completely and he has normal poo. Any ideas? I’m at my wits end with this x

My toddler is the same minus the anti biotics. We have found it eases a little if we reduce dairy and fruit but his stools are still soft. Our health visitor says it's something he should grow out of.

That’s reassuring that it is maybe common. I know there is an awful smell from his and he could do 2 a day… it’s getting so frustrating 🙈x

Same 😆😆 constantly getting threats of him being sent home from nursery, he is fine! Toddler diarrhoea is the name of an actual diagnosis.

Could be secondary lactose intolerance which is triggered after a stomach bug or possibly the antibiotics. Or it could be an allergy full stop.

Either way I'd remove dairy for a few weeks, this won't cause any harm but will give the gut time to rest. I'd also start a probiotic (I find powder ones better, veridian children's powder is good). Then reintroduce the dairy a few weeks later and see if symptoms return.

Are you giving him Weetbix or Shreddies or brown bread by any chance? Anything wholegrain can give both my toddlers diarrhea
