Milk ladder question

Help! I'm doing the milk ladder with my wee one and we're on the Scotch pancake stage.

I just got some from Waitrose but they say Milk Whey Powder in the ingredients.

And someone's pointed out to me that on the NHS website, the ladder says *don't give the ones with whey?!

Anyone know why and what it means that I've given them?

There are two proteins in dairy whey and caesin. You can be allergic to either or both. The issue with using them in the ladders is if your child is actually allergic to caesin and the product you use only has whey in they will pass as they aren't allergic to whey. Once a step has been passed you can use products that specify whey or caesin proteins but to pass the step you need a product with both in unfortunately
