For those whose DC has completed the milk ladder

My DC has reached yoghurt on the milk ladder, with the next step seemingly being uncooked milk. However, I'm a bit unsure as to where certain foods sit on the ladder. For example, if she can eat yoghurt happily, does that mean she will likely be okay with chocolate?

She's also keen to know if she can eat:

  • custard
  • croissants
  • buttercream icing (of course!)

Any tips or pointers gratefully received!

Are you doing the 6 or 12 step ladder?

The version we're doing has six steps… Although I was mistaken, the next step after yoghurt is boiled milk, and then milk straight from the carton. Looking again, I do see that custard is on the same level as cheese on this version… Although every time I google it, cheese seems to be in a different position, for example, sometimes it's after yoghurt. Starting to wonder how scientific all of this actually is!

I did 12 step. I would say croissants are fine, custard not until they’ve managed milk itself and the butter icing will depend on the actual ingredients, I often put milk in mine.

Just butter should be fine as it has hardly has any protein in it.

Butter is before cooked milk it's after malted milk biscuits so should be fine.
Croissant ditto, they've been baked.

Thanks, i understand the connection with protein now!
