Is this CMPA?

I don't know if my 5 week old baby has CMPA or something else?

He's been on kendamil organic formula since 1 week old however we recently used a tin of the non organic version.

He can be quite windy/difficult to burp and has occasion screamed and won't let us burp him.

He also strains and grunts a lot. He has 1 big poo a day and colour wise it's fine and seedy but a bit on the watery side, however I've read it can be normal to have runny pops on kendamil as it's quite rich?

He also developed spots on his face after 2 weeks but these have got loads better so I put it down to baby acne.

I saw a GP on Wednesday (as couldn't get hold of HV) where I told him he was inconsolable. GP looked at him and said the spots aren't baby acne but a reaction despite me showing him how bad they were previously. He immediately prescribed Neocate formula which I thought was a bit extreme given I've read many parents having to fight for it! I have to admit I felt like the whole appointment was a bit of a tick box exercise and I'm not convinced but don't know if I'm just in denial!

HV at first didn't think he had allergy and said to up his feed to 5oz so that he's fuller/satisfied and be more relaxed to wind. But on sending her a picture of his poo has commented on it being runny. She's coming round on Wednesday.

In hindsight I dunno why I told the doctor he was inconsolable cause he isn't! He had one screaming outburst which was very intense and can be a little fussy on occasion but definitely not inconsolable and he generally goes straight to sleep, albeit straining and squirming, I do think he has a wind problem?

I'm also wondering if the switch from organic to standard had something to do with it? He's back on organic now and seems fine apart from the runny poo and straining/grunting.

Any thoughts?

Seems a bit of a rush in to
dairy free formula tbh but you could always try him for 4 weeks on it, see if there’s an improvement, and then reintroduce kendamil to see if symptoms return. That will tell you if it’s an allergy.
