Hi
Lo (3.5) has been dairy free for 7 weeks after constipation. The Dr recommended the other day that I reintroduce it to see what happens.
On Wednesday night she had a tiny bit of butter and has since had bits of cheese (only little bits). She hasn't pood since Wednesday and she has been going every day.
Obviously the drs r now shut and I'm stuck. Do I go back to dairy free and then try again in a few weeks and if she stops pooing again then we know it's the dairy or do I continue giving dairy and see if the poo comes?

I would go DF for over the Easter break. There's no way I'd be introducing an allergen when the Doctors is closed and the Emergency services will be stretched.

Has the GP referred you to a Paediatric Dietician yet? You usually do the Milk Ladder under their guidance.

You stop dairy. Get symptoms free wait a further couple of weeks and then you use the milk ladder to reintroduce dairy to see where their current tolerance is. Ask your Dr about a dietician referral to help you. Your HV should also be able to do this referral

Thank you both. I asked the Dr if I should do the milk ladder and he said to just give her a glass of milk.
She's pood now and seems ok.
We've had no referral cos at the moment it's just checking to see if it's an allergy.

Ok so that would be a milk challenge which is to confirm an allergy. If you have any symptoms stop as it confirms the allergy. Once it's confirmed you get stable and then look at gradual reintroduction using the milk ladder.
