Hi lovely ladies, i have always been slcheckinv on the mumsnet threads for all ny kids and mine problems but this time i couldn't find any thread related to my symptoms, so i habe joined just now and badly need your help. so from past few months im regularly on antibiotics with some illnesses some were ,mastitis(while breastfeeding), then urine infection, then chest infection, then I had throat strep A around 7 weeks ago and gp prescribed me penicillin 2 tablets for 10 days. on 9th day i stated having extreme itching and was developing hives. on all over the body.some parts were worse than others and took 3,4 days for hive to go..then it started itching and if i dont take antihistamins i keep itching everywhere and its kind of skin writing where i itch, some parts raise where i itch and get better after half hour, go prescribed me 2 courses of scabies which i did 3 weeks ago. had some blood tests done and platelets are bit high and iron is very low. gp gave me steroids to take that's 8 tablets everyday for 7 days. I had second dose today and there is not a bit of effect on my symptoms..After being tired of itching i took benendryl and it relieved my itching..does anyone know when it will end? ar anyone who had this? I want reassurance as im thinking its never going to end. i dont think its an allergy.please help.

Did you have a confirmed Strep A diagnosis and what type of penicillin antibiotics did you have? People with glandular fever ( which can give a similar symptoms ) can develop a rash with some antibiotics.

Hi yes, i had confirmed strep A and was prescribed phenoxymethylpenicillin 250mg and i was on 9th day when the itching rash woth hives started appearing. just got a msg from gp who confirmed Vaginal Strep A today and prescribed doxycycline for 7 days. I hope taking antibiotics and steroids might help...cant say anything..just want reassurance that it happened to someone else and they got cured.

Try antihistamines, you can buy them over the counter.

yes i am living on antihistamines, nothing like cetrizine, fuxofenadine, piriteze, piriton.none worked only benendryl fron asda is working. I am taking 3 times in 24hours..otherwise i would be itching all the time.

You may just have to wait it out until your body has recovered from illness. Hives can appear during or after illnesses. But they can also appear spontaneously with no underlying cause. That happened to me.

yeah im just worried of taking too many antihistamines as i feel too itchy as soon as the effect of medicine goes..now im taking antibiotics, steroids and iron tablets as im low on iron.
