Hi all.
I believe our son may have some kind of intolerance/allergy to his formula.
He’s 3 months old and has always (from about a week old) suffered with the following symptoms -
Extreme nasal congestion/wheezyness (currently asleep on my chest and sounds like a smoker!)

Coughing/sneezing noticeably more than average.

Discomfort after feeds - sometimes immediately throws up his feed or can be delayed by 1/2 hours where he will be sick but it’s curdled and sour. Also squirming and crying, raising knees.

He winds well but suffers with trapped wind and cries when trying to burp/fart.

Poops are either incredibly runny and watery or really foamy and mucusy. I always say it looks a bit like kinetic sand with the same kind of stretch (sorry - tmi!)

No rash/skin issues as such, but he does have regular flair ups of baby acne on his face/dry skin across his eyes and forehead.

Sleeps horrendously unless on me. He’s constantly wriggling until he farts/is sick.
We get maybe 1 good night a week where he sleeps longer stretches but I believe this is because he’s so wiped out.

I am exhausted trying to help him through this. HV ran a feeding assessment and has prescribed formula to try but this isn’t ready yet and now it’s the weekend so have to wait a few more days. My eldest also went through this but symptoms were less severe and his symptoms stopped around 5.5 months and he was weaned off the specialist milk.

He’s gaining weight but he’s an unhappy, cranky soul and I think he’s just fed up and exhausted
Does anyone have any similar experiences and how was your baby once they moved to prescribed formula? I’m hoping it makes a difference and helps little man.

It sounds like CMPA to me too. Has she referred you to a Paediatric Dietician too?

Maybe lactose intolerance. Both my boys were the same. I used Colief drops in the milk but I don’t know if that’s still available. This was 20 years ago !

Hi @Littletiredzombie6, I know this is an old post but just wondering what your outcome was, was it CMPA and did the new milk help? Having very similar issues with my 9 week old! Started Aptamil pepti 1 but no improvement so far.

Hi @Greyhoundmum20
I thought the Apti was helping because he seemed less sicky at first. But unfortunately he was still being sick, I just wasn’t noticing it as much because it was watery.
I took little man to the doctors and he was prescribed infant gaviscon which helped massively, but made him a little constipated. He said baby had a floppy larynx because when he was breathing, it was very raspy and he has been difficult to wean too, being quite sicky.
I weaned him off the gaviscon and tried Kendamil stage 1 and he was a lot better on it. Still a bit sicky but got better over time. He’s just turned one and seems much better. I would still say his larynx is developing because he does gag a lot and it doesn’t take much to make him sick.
Maybe go to the doctors and see what they can advise. It’s so hard in those early days - sending you a big squeeze xx
