Given 2 piriton

17 year old son has a urticaria rash from no-where - all over his body and face. I gave him 2 piriton without checking the dose. Currently waiting for 111 to call me back. He's fallen asleep (although he did say he was ok before falling asleep). Anyone done this and been ok? Am I worrying unduly?

What happens if you try and wake him?

Some people take two a day normally so try not to worry. I'm on fexofenadine because piriton wasn't strong enough.

Dr Google just suggests more likely to suffer side effects. He is going to be having a really deep sleep! I would just check his breathing is fine periodically, but a second dose can be taken after 4 hours so I would relax by then. You might still be waiting for a call back by then too.

Thank you - that's reassuring.

My dermatologist used to suggest taking two piriton if the itching at night was unbearable. Absolutely no ill effects felt apart from a deep sleep (and no itching)
