Hello, hoping for some advice!
so I started weaning my little one a few weeks ago and all was going well. He’s always suffered from itching his head (he has eczema on his body but can’t be seen on his head). He was very sick last week and went off his milk, I’ve been struggling to get him to drink anything the past week. Yesterday was the most hes had and he ate some prunes. Last night he was very sick again and he’s always constipated to the point his bum bleeds where he’s trying to have a poo. The doctor presicbed medication yesterday for constipation. But does this sound like it could be an allergy?

Could be cows milk allergy, It can be developed at any time, couldn't be anything . Maybe stop weaning and just go back to milk only, and the start again, recited what you give them and the reactions.

Yes it could be an allergy. Have a read of this from Allergy UK and see if the symptoms are similar. Allergy UK have a useful Helpline too if you want to talk to them Flowers

@SiouxsieSiouxStiletto the doctor has prescribed SMA hypoallergenic milk to see if that helps so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!

That's good. How are things today? Is LO feeding ok?

@SiouxsieSiouxStiletto hes been better today, I’ve only just picked up the milk so haven’t tried him on it yet. I feel really anxious about changing his milk I’m not sure why. I also gave him a small dose of the stool softener this morning and he had a poo this evening which was fine! I’ve also encouraged him to drink more water today so I’m not sure if that’s helped. I was wondering if I should keep him on his regular milk (Kendamil organic) and keep offering him water and see if that helps with the constipation? Or should I just use the milk? It’s the SMA milk they have prescribed. I was thinking about what his actual symptoms are and he strains so much he bleeds around his bum but could this be because I started weaning a few weeks ago and he’s not having enough water?
sorry it’s just all playing on my mind and I want to make the right decisions for him!

I'd definitely try the new milk. Weaning shouldn't cause constipation. If it is and he definitely wasn't like this before weaning then you might not want to offer solids for a few days to give his gut a rest and then reintroduce, slowly.

Lack of water shouldn't be causing constipation at this age as hell still be having plenty of fluids from his bottles.

If the constipation was there before introducing solids, I'd definitely be thinking it's the milk and trying the new formula.
