Allergies and intolerances

Silent Reflux / Omeprazole / CMPA?

My 15 week old baby is on goats milk and omeprazole for silent reflux and has just had his omeprazole dose quadrupled to 20mg. I'm really really struggling to get it down him, he just spits it out and gags and chokes - I've tried giving him tiny amounts and then his bottle or tiny amounts and then gripe water but he just spits it all out.
He's been very very unsettled the last few days (hardly sleeping, screaming in pain and refusing bottles once again) and I'm wondering whether it's actually an allergy causing the reflux? Has anyone had this? I've heard good things about neocate so bought a tub off amazon the other day in desperation but haven't tried it yet!
I'm just not sure what to do next as I can hardly get the meds down him - has anyone got a magic solution?

I’d try the neocate. It could well be an intolerance to cows milk protein causing his pain. My granddaughter had both, silent reflux and cmpa, it was a tough time, at two days old she was admitted to intensive care for a week.

Hi @Kathryn91 thanks for asking!
Now 4.5 months:
Bit of a long story but the omeprazole wasn't doing much for him at all - he was still refusing bottles, unsettled etc and I just had this feeling that it was upsetting his stomach in some way. So I literally just stopped it!
I don't know if you've ever heard or used homeopathic but I have used arnica/chamomilla etc with my eldest and its worked wonders - so I phoned a homeopathic company and asked what they'd recommend for reflux and they said Nat Phos 200c (one 10 mins before each feed) and Carbo Veg 200c (3 times a day).
So I got that ordered, and now 2 weeks later he's a completely different baby. Happy, sleeps 12 hours at night, has 4x 6-7oz bottles a day plus I've weaned him early (which has probably helped with the reflux too) - so he has 2 small helpings of baby rice plus sweet potato or pear etc a day. I honestly can't believe the difference!
Still on goats milk but I might keep him on that for a bit - don't want to upset things but hoping he'll be fine back on cows milk soon!
If you want any more info, please message me because it's just been amazing to see my baby transform and he's on no medication!

I know it's an old thread but @Kathryn91 how did you administer the treatments? I don't know anyone around where I live who would make a tincture and I also don't know how I would give a 3 month old the small tablets which dissolve under the tongue.. any tips please ?

Select the remedy you want, then select 200c and then when you press add to cart, it'll come up with what type of tablets - I'd recommend fine granules or soft tablets for babies

Remedy Store • Ainsworths • The First Name in Homoeopathy
