Stuffed up big style and feel bad

This week I realised that all red wine (and some white)in NZ contains egg, so I haven't been as egg free as I thought. I don't drink much red wine anyway so it's not as if I have been massively sensitising my ds, but still - I feel I should have paid more attention. In my defence because wine is sold several years after it is made the labelling is only just catching up with the 2004 vintage.

Also PVA glue contains latex. Ds's hands are now so shocking that Doctor has put us on the strongest cream for 3 days. Why didn't I ask the preschool to check it sooner? It was made worse by my banning soap, so the protein has stayed on his skin long after they washed his hands. They are switching to a flour and water paste for him.

Also they have just added egg to the pasta I normally buy. This is a disaster for us, because it means I can't risk giving him any pasta outside the home in case it is this brand. Why do they do this, it tasted fine.

Bit sick of trying to keep ahead of the game, telling a nearly 2 year old he can't be given balloons at Christmas time is starting to get to me. The bloody things are everywhere, and being in contact with someone who has been in contact with them is enough, such as a kiss from someone who has blown them up.

don't beat yourself up, kinderbob, we all make mistakes now and then. Why didn't the preschool check it earlier, their responsibility too?

There are latex free balloons called Mylar but I don't know if you'd be able to get any and its probably worse trying to tell a 2 year old he can have some but not others. Do children grow out of latex allergy?

Write to the pasta makers - they probably won't change but blowing off steam at them helps.

Time for something stronger than the wine

Pre school are trying really hard, but latex is an unusual one. For instance I had to tell MIL not to get a poinsettia for Christmas day and my Dad now to handle bob's bare skin after reading the newspaper.

He is definitely getting better, he can now hold a banana without going all red and spaced out looking. (Banana cross reacts with latex).

Didn't realise how difficult this was. I was wondering if our friend with a problem round his eyes was reacting to latex in his binocular's eye cups but I don't think he has any problems with bananas so maybe it isn't latex causing his problems. He works for a newspaper firm too!
