Nut free cakes??

We are having a little tea party for DC's tomorrow and MOST cakes in the shops contain nuts/traces of nuts/made in factory where nuts are used.

Does anyone know of any completely nut free cakes or am I being a bit too optimistic??

Please don't tell me to make my own as I won't have time tomorrow .

go find the 'free from' ranges in the supermarkets......tis your best bet now if you don;t want to make any.

haiving said that, they will most likely also be gluten free and/or dairy free too, so not altogether lovely on the taste, but they will be nut free.

to be fair tho.....most are nit free if they only say "may contain nuts", as they have to say that to cover themsleves........but I still would not take the risk if a severe reaction is the possibility.

CAn you get to marks and spencers - some of their muffins are nut-free - you could always ice them if you need to.
otherwise my emergency tea party goodies are jelly, kits kats and other nut-free biscuits I can find.

Thanks. I am still always weary of giving him stuff with "may contain" blah blah.

I am sure I read on here a while ago of certain cakes (sold in shops) which are completly nut free. Can't remember now!

M&S is good for nut free foods, thats where I usually buy kids party food.

Look for the Bakin Boys - their cakes are not only nut free but very nice . Most free from food is NOT nut free, it irritates me.

If all else fails jaffa cakes are nut free - but not all supermarket own versions (sainsburys are).

Thanks tatt. Didn't realise jaffa cakes were nut free, and I shop in Sainburys . Never heard of Bakin Boys though???

Bakin Boys are sold in Sainsburys, Asda and Tesco, not sure about other places. They make small cakes with icing (chocolate or a mixed flavour box) and flapjacks. Hope you found some.
